PIPS supports the rights of residents to connect with the waterway from their properties. We promote environmentally friendly floats that allow safe water access.

Erosion/Prevention
|
|
Over time, erosion has been accelerated by strong winds at high tide and the removal of large supporting trees.
Depending on the individual location, residents and governments have been forced to employ various techniques to protect their properties.
Historical high tides are becoming more the norm, a result of climate change. Waterfront properties are among the first to be affected.

Undermining at the base of existing impervious walls can be retarded by the addition of sea grasses and strategically placed large rocks.
When new buffers are needed and where appropriate, PIPS supports the integration of bio-engineering methods:
- Encouraging native plants on the foreshore.
- Reducing all forms of pollution into the waterway.
- Controlling erosion with retaining walls that accommodate wildlife and plants.
Leaving an earthen embankment open to serious erosion has deleterious effects-- tree damage, mud infill in the waterway and loss of property.
